Our Story

The Little Yarn Store (Yarn Glorious Yarn) was founded by Sue Wheeler in 2011 with the support of her husband Jim. Sue learned to knit and crochet from her grandmother as a child and longed to own a little yarn store.

Over the last 13 years, The Little Yarn Store has stocked beautiful yarns from around the world. In 2011 it was much more difficult to find international yarns in Australia. The first yarn that we began to stock was BC Garn from Denmark. At the time we were the only shop that carried this brand, along with Holst Garn, Koigu, Madelinetosh, and Zen Yarn Garden. Gradually we have expanded and carry some beautiful soft Australian merino yarns such as Bellissimo.

Fast forward to 2023, and Sue is ready to retire. Stephanie Spafford, an avid knitter, crocheter, and transplant from Canada sees that Sue is planning on closing the store. Shocked and horrified that Brisbane and Australia would be losing such a valuable resource and store, she reached out to Sue about purchasing the business. Much to her disbelief Sue agreed!

After much consideration, Stephanie decided to change the name of Yarn Glorious Yarn to The Little Yarn Store to represent the next chapter in this local yarn store's history. Within this next chapter, we aim to build upon the strong relationships we have developed with our wonderful customers both online and in-store. We pride ourselves on our customer service and do our best to make everyone feel welcome.

We hope you will be a part of the next chapter of The Little Yarn Store.
