She loves everything about hand knitted socks, especially sock construction techniques and we are lucky enough to have Clare here to teach two workshops this month. Class Description 

Not sure what all the fuss about hand knitted socks is about? This class is perfect if you want to find out more about knitting socks.

Clare will walk you through everything you need to know about getting started with socks including:

Choosing suitable needles and yarn

Selecting the best cast on method for top down socks

Creating a sock with a top down heel flap construction

Shaping the toe

Grafting using Kitchener Stitch

Yarn is provided but you will need to bring or purchase from us a set of bamboo or wooden dpns 4.5mm

Skills needed

Knitting in the round with either DPNs or Magic Loop.

Please note: You do not need to have lots of experience knitting in the round but a little bit will help you in the workshop. The main demonstration of the sock will be using DPNs.

Magic Loop: If you are already familiar with Magic Loop you are welcome to use this technique in the class but it will not be taught as part of the workshop.

Class Description

Always wanted to try a cabled knit but not sure where to start? Join me as we explore cables and some other nifty tricks while working on a fun knitted hat.
In the class you will learn:
  • German Twisted Cast-on (my favourite stretchy cast on for hats, socks and mitts)
  • How to join your work in the round, and knit a hat in the round using a short circular needle
  • How to create neat ribbing with combination knitting
  • Knitting cables with and without a cable needle
  • Read a simple cable chart
  • Make a fabulous pom-pom
  • Unlocked the secret of a perfectly blocked hat, tips and tricks for a great fit and making those cables pop.
You will need: 


  • 100g Cascade 128 in a colour of your choice
  • 5 mm / US8 circular needle 40cm / 16in length 
  • 6 mm / US10 circular needle 40cm / 16in length 
  • 6 mm / US10 set of DPNs for crown decreases
  • One stitch marker 
  • Tapestry needle 
  • Cable needle 
A printed copy of the pattern will be provided with a code to download a digital version from Ravelry. 
Experience needed: 
If you know how to knit and purl you can join this class. Ideally you will have completed a few simple knitting projects and are comfortable reading knitting patterns. 
All yarn and needles are available from the shop and you will need to purchase and have wound one skein of Cascade 128 before class begins.



All our classes require a deposit of 50% at the time of booking. This is refundable if the class is cancelled for some reason. If you cancel less than 3 days prior to the class the deposit is non refundable. Classes are kept to a maximum of 6-8 pupils. Please call the shop to book in for all classes. 0438 374364


We have regular crochet lessons every Wednesday morning from 10am - 12pm. These lessons are for those wanting to learn crochet or how to begin a project where some guidance is required. The classes are kept to a minimum and everyone is at a different stage of learning. It is a relaxed class but it is essential to book in and you must be using yarn purchased from the shop. The class cost is $25 for 2 hours.

These can be arranged by phoning the shop to discuss a time to suit both parties. The cost is $25 per hour and payable at the time of booking. 


We have Tuesday and Thursday Knitting Groups during the day each week from 11am - 1pm. CROCHETERS ARE WELCOME TOO!

There is no charge for our knitting groups but we request that you are working with yarn that has been purchased from Yarn Glorious Yarn. 


We have a free knit night on the first Thursday of each month from 5pm - 7.30pm.

Please ring to confirm if you are coming because if we don't hear from you we may close up early.
